Episode 42: 1st November 2018

The autumn statement in a nutshell, a fab book that we both wish we’d written and a profile of quote master extraordinaire Zig Ziglar capture our imagination this week.

When the Chancellor takes to his feet the whole nation waits with bated breath to see how much money he puts on a the price of a pint or a litre of fuel. Inevitably there are some high level issues that make the press but we like to dig deeper into some of the things that get swept under the carpet.

Tracy flags up Small Business Saturday and the FSB Small Business Awards for 2019.

Events for your diary over the coming month:

Natwest Keeping Your Business Safe from Scams – Chester – 19th November

Your Digital  World – Oswestry – 22nd November

What Is Mental Toughness – Northop – 22nd November

In Business – Your Business Healthcheck – Birkenhead – 28th November

And our Guru of the week is the Salesman’s salesman, Zig Ziglar. His long standing reputation for being the master of closing the sale shaped his career and his ultimate fame to make him a household name.

A couple of his many quotes that took our fancy are:

“People often say motivation doesn’t last,” Ziglar often said, in response to his critics. “But neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.”

”Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days.”

”Everyone is in sales. Whether selling a product, idea, support of a cause or getting your child to eat greens.”
