Episode 39: 11th October 2018

This week we mix things up a bit as we welcome a very special guest into the studio who shares his knowledge and expertise from the world of Civil Engineering.

Our topical discussion focuses on World Mental Health Day and the importance of Workplace Well Being as this moves higher up the business agenda.

From long term health issues to presenteeism and leaveism via all issues in between. We found some fascinating resources which we think you will  not only find interesting but will help to protect you, your business and your workforce from mental ill health.

When we were given the opportunity to interview our special guest this week our heads were filled with questions, far too many to include in one half hour interview, but we think we did a pretty good job of finding out more about a subject we both knew very little about, Civil Engineering. Turns out it’s much more exciting than it sounds.

The Right Honourable Lord Professor Robert Mair is the first titled guest we’ve featured since starting The Business Community and we hope he won’t be the last. In his capacity as World President of the Institution of Civil Engineers and Head of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Cambridge Professor Mair is charming, knowledgeable and fascinating in equal measure.

We round off the show with a few events that we hope will be of interest:

ACAS Mental Health Conference – Leeds – 21st November 2018

CIPD Workplace Well Being – Newtown – 16th October 2018

CIPD Annual Conference & Exhibition- Manchester – 7/8th November 2018

Women Mean Business – London – 31st October 2018

Remember, you are the community and we welcome your comments below. Please keep them kind or at least be constructive in your criticisms.
