Episode 9 and we’re celebrating – HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY to Calon FM!
We kicked off the show with a discussion about The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For list which has just been published.
We were fortunate to have a direct quote from an employee of one of the companies in the top 50, Zen Internet:
“I love working at Zen because unlike so many companies today; you are treated with respect as an individual. You are valued and offered progression and support where you need it on an ongoing basis. The company strives and indeed succeeds in truly putting its people first with a sense of integrity. Morale in the office is always high and doors are always open for whatever you might need.
We do a lot for charity and the surrounding community and that makes me very proud.
The company strives to give you a job for life, a real career – which for people such as myself can be hard to come by.”
Joel Ayre, Zen Internet
Events featured this week are all organised by the West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce:
- Round table networking in Chester
- Chamber of Commerce Taster Event in St Asaph
- Export Training: Customs & VAT in Chester
Chatting about books today gave us a giggle – The Peter Principle (amusing-ish?) and The Dilbert Principle (actually funny) – both were scarily accurate about the idea that managers rise to their own level of their incompetence.
The guru spotlight was turned towards Tony Robbins this week and we finished the show with a couple of quotes from him:
“What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.”
“If you’re in your head, you’re dead.”
